MMA Training

MMA Training is fast becoming the new Boxercise.

MMA has evolved into not only the most exciting spectator sport but also a sport that anyone can learn and train for. It's a sport that has so many different facets and because it's continually evolving you never fail to learn something new each time you step onto the mat.

The main disciplines incorporated in MMA training are Muay Thai (Thai Boxing), Western Boxing, Wrestling and Grappling/Jiu Jitsu. Now as well as all of these combat disciplines involved in MMA people are also focusing on the MMA strength training side of things with classes dedicated to the strength and conditioning aspect of the sport.

Cross training is a key element to MMA training. A typical MMA session would include Plyometrics, strength work, speed and coordination work, flexibility training and more. For example a favored drill in our MMA class would be Sprawl – Stand - Takedown. This drill alone incorporates Plyometrics for the Sprawl and Stand as well explosive movement to set up the takedown, core activation and functional strength to get your training partner to the mat and works the flexibility and coordination of the whole body. There are hundreds of drills that work multiple systems of the body in MMA training and on top of that you also have the technical aspect of the class. Learning new skills that keep the excitement as well as interest levels at a high throughout the practitioners time in class is a key for longevity and commitment to the sport of MMA.
